Talented students interested in additional challenges can audition for various local honor bands, including AYWS, MAYWE, MYSO, District Band and All-State Band, or for a chance to perform with the US Marine Band or the US Air Force Band. Many application deadlines and auditions come and go quickly so don't delay!

| Last Changed 2010-08-16 | | | | All-State and District Honor Band
District Honor Band will be held on February 11th and 12th. This is an
opportunity for our students to work with a nationally known clinician and perform
with outstanding performers from all the area High Schools. The audition
requirements are listed on the form and all scales must be memorized. Students may sign up for extra help at anytime. Students who are interested in finding a private lesson instructor and need help finding one, should
contact Ms. Baker or Ms. Womack immediately. The audition for this event is the first round of the All-State audition on December 11th at Whitewater High School. Students who would like to participate in this audition will need to return
the registration form immediately.
All-State Jazz Band
The audition process is in two rounds with the first one taking place on October
18th at Starr’s Mill High School. The second round audition is on December 4th and is usually held in Valdosta. Students who make the group will participate in All State Jazz Band January 26-28 in Savannah. Form due by September 1st.

ASYO Auditions - In need of horns and percussion!
While our application period has closed, we are still in need of horn and percussion applicants. If you are so inclined, would you please pass this on to your band directors? Auditions for the 2010/2011 season will be held on August 28, 29, and 30, 2010.The Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble was formed in 2003 by Robert Ambrose to provide an outstanding wind band performance opportunity for talented young musicians in the greater Atlanta area. The group rehearses on Monday evenings in the beautiful Aderhold Learning Center and Rialto Center for the Arts buildings on the Georgia State campus. click here

We
are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity to your graduating high schoolstudents! We encourage your graduating seniors to perform in the University of
South Carolina Marching Band for the 2010-2011 season. The
Carolina Band consists of wind, percussion, color guard, dance and
feature twirlers who enjoy the excitement and tradition of performing at
the USC football games
and other campus events. Each member will receive a stipend for their
participation of up to $500 for their service and all meals, lodging and
transportation are covered by USC during our road trips and bowl game. Please
encourage your students to participate and raise awareness about
performing at the college level by forwarding this email and posting
these flyers.

The United States Air Force Band's Young Artist Competition is open to high school brass and percussion instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12 who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. Applicants must submit audiotapes of themselves playing a specified selection for their instrument accompanied by a letter of intent by a due date in early November of each year. Finalists are then invited to a live audition in Washington, D.C. The winner performs as a soloist with The United States Air Force Concert Band during the Guest Artist Series at DAR Constitution Hall.
